Created by teachers and based on a patented pedagogical design, Practice is an experiential video learning platform developed through multiple National Science Foundation grants. It scales training and skill development and uses video to help learners engage with the key components of effective face-to-face instruction.
During the Prompt & Response stage of a Practice exercise, users practice and record specific, discrete skills.
On average, users record and re-record their videos 3.5 times before submitting.
The Practice learning process mirrors the same principles identified by Dr. Anders Ericsson, who coined "deliberate practice", the pursuit of personal improvement through well-defined, specific goals and targeted areas of expertise. With it, instructors easily guide learners into effective ways of building new skills and achieving mastery.

After uploading their video, users review peer responses, then offer specific, timestamped feedback.
On average, users choose to review at least 1 video over the minimum assigned by their instructors.
The feedback loop the Practice platform triggers between peers increases interaction, real engagement, and collaborative reflection, which facilitates social learning through modeling, observation, and imitation.

Once users submit peer assessments, they unlock the Model & Reflection stage and engage with their own reviews and scores.
The Practice platform enables reflective practice and provides immediate feedback within a community of learners.

After progressing, users are able to watch a model response where an expert or manager demonstrates the skill outlined in the exercise.
The Practice platform enhances coaching and mentoring in two ways. First, it gives learners the option to view a model response. Then, it offers learners access to expert feedback provided to customized cohorts.

As users demonstrate specific skills identified within a competency-based framework, instructors easily assess and track their development.

Independent researchers conducted an efficacy test to determine if teachers who participated in a series of Practice exercises experienced increased competency acquisition.
